Chas Sumser Head Coach stride@erols.com Through seven seasons, Coach Chas has guided the Avalanche to an overall record of 56-28-11 (.647), and 6-1-1 (.813) in the team's second season as a travel team. The LFC Avalanche 95, of the Leesburg Football Club, finished the Spring 2009 season as the U13G ODSL Division 2 champions. The Fall 2008 team also captured the Division 3 championship after an undefeated (7-0-1) campaign. Coach Chas began his coaching career as a teenager in Vienna Youth Soccer. The late Scott "Scotty" Noble was the inspirational coach/mentor that helped form Coach Chas' intense love of the game and of player development. He continued to increase his coaching skills and experience under the guidance of legendary William & Mary coach, Al Albert, who encouraged non-varsity players to become involved in the Williamsburg Youth Leagues. During that time, Coach Chas led teams of both boys and girls and learned how to manage children who would rather bite each other or climb trees than play soccer. And he loved it. Most recently, Coach Chas led recreational and all star teams in Loudoun Soccer for 25 consecutive seasons. For twenty of those seasons, he coached the Leesburg Vipers, a boys team, from U9 to U19. Coach Chas holds a National D License, granted by U.S. Soccer and VYSA, and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He is also a certified Grade 8 referee.
